Children's Ministry Director
Stephanie Van Ornum
As the Children's Ministry Director, Stephanie oversees ministry for Birth through 5th Graders. She works with a team of volunteers to implement our various ministries for kids, including: Sunday Morning 9:00am Potter's Workshop, Sunday Morning 10:00am KIDMO, Wednesday evening KidVenture, YAP, Preschool Park, VBS, Upwards Basketball, and Nursery & Preschool Ministries on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Her job encompasses administration, curriculum review and use, volunteer development, volunteer training, interaction with OPC's kids, and much more. Stephanie graduated from Whitworth College in 2003 with a degree in Religion. She also completed the Certification for Ministry Program specializing in children's ministry. During college, she worked part-time as the Children's Ministry Director for Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, whre her main goal was to make their children's ministry self-sustaining after she graduated. She also did a summer internship at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Gig Harbor; this experience at Chapel Hill was valuable and unique because it was a large Presbyterian Church with a large Children's Ministry staff and ministry. After Whitworth she worked part-time at First Presbyterian Church and as a nanny for a family with two children. Her experiences at First Presbyterian Church prepared her for her first step into full-time ministry at OPC and heer experiences as a nanny gave her the ability to understand the joys and hardships of parenting. She is delighted to be here and to be serving her favorite people: God's children.
